8.

After 24 hours of transport from Marseille, we arrived in Namibia; Where beautiful landscapes and wild animals live together. This country has a lot of serenity where it is good to live. Every moment, every second, every breath of the wind offers us a state of fullness. At this very moment when I write this first day in the savannah, I hear the singing of the birds, the squeaking trees; I see the guinea fowl begging for seeds, the termites doing their work, the warthogs walking around, and the antelopes hopping. For this first day, my family and I went in 4×4 with our guide in the lodge of Okonjima. This lodge is in Otjiwarongo, a destination in western Namibia that has saved over 900 cats. The lodges are right in the savannah, allowing us to cohabit with the animals right at the feet of our beds. Each small lodge holds a water point so that they can moisturize, and at the same time get closer to us. Within that second, where we arrived in Otjiwarongo, we felt like we were on the road to vacation. On Namibian sand, camera in hand, where time is divine, and magical memories. It’s Namibia, the drunkenness of life, the laughter and the eyes full of the stars. As one quote says: “The Swiss invented the watch, Namibians have time”. First observation, first place, we are not disappointed. Living room with opening on the savannah, we take the time with a light breeze and welcome that releases the fragrance of the surrounding plants, before doing our first activity: the search for felines in the heart of Okonjima. Okonjima is full of wild animals. Accompanied by our guide and a Namibian specialist of “Big Cats” we leave in an open jeep.

Each cat in the protected area has a collar.Namibians, on the other hand, have a radio sensor that can be used to find approximately the felines. One hour and a half of research later we face a majestic leopard preparing his hunt.Pretentious by this enchanting and magnificent moment, we stayed almost an hour to observe it. When we left, we passed his 10-month-old baby who joined him for a moment of pure tenderness. The next day, we go in search of the cheetah. 6h the alarm sounds, it is cool but we are excited because the morning is the most opportune time to see the cats as well as the other animals. A few minutes later, we stop at a high point over the entire protected area. The sunrise is to cut the blow, a staggering wild extended surface under the cry of the monkeys. We could also see a monkey sitting on a rock, admiring this beauty of nature. It’s pink time, we call it “the magic hour”, just fabulous. Namibia we’ve been here two days and we love you already. We feel so much emotion, we are in a second state.
